10- Scattering interfaces with tailored disorder and binary profiles

Self-organized patterns of colloidal particles are used as templates in order to generate binary patterns in thin films. Understanding the particle deposition process allows to predict and optimize patterns for a specific optical function. A stack of multiple such binary structured layers will enable advanced functionality. The experiments are accompanied by numerical and theoretical analyses, where the scattering properties of the layers are rigorously and semi-analytically deduced and relevant parameter regimes and possible applications identified and investigated.
